As a quick introduction, my wife and I have been blessed with two beautiful kids, and lots of loving, giving family. As anybody who has children knows, they grow out of their clothes far before they are worn out. Sometimes they've outgrown shoes they never got to break in! What are we to do with all these clothes. While we've given quite a bit away over the past year or so we couldn't "just give away" some things. OK, a LOT of things. Most of the items we've held on to were the nicer dresses or sets which had some real value. At least we think so.
So, starting very soon we'll be posting our stuff on eCrater.com, a website for regular people like us to sell stuff. It looks nice, seems to get a fair amount of traffic, and doesn't charge insane rates like eBait eBay. This whole venture is part experimentation, part business, part fun, and part making some room in our house which we could use for more important things than baby stuff. I figure this blog will serve as a behind-the-scenes on what's going on with the shop. Sure, we'll announce here when we add new items, but we're also going to talk about the process too. I promise we won't go too meta.
What kinds of stuff are we going to sell? Well, our daughter is 4 years old right now, so for her we've got clothes from 12 months to 4 years for girls clothes (she's in mostly 5 year old clothes now). And our son is just about to turn 1 year old, so everything from newborn to 12 months for boys. As you can imagine, we didn't get to pass nearly as much from our first child to our second as we expected. Let's not talk about a third just yet, that's still a topic-in-discussion at our house!
Getting back on track... we bought most of our clothes new, and the stuff we got as gifts were in new or nearly new condition when we got them. I think you'll find most of our stuff is in pretty good shape, and our prices fairly reasonable. We know what these things cost new, and we know they're NOT new anymore. But they're not junkeither. All in all there's going to be a good variety, good quality, and good experience when you buy from us. Check back here frequently, or maybe we'll setup one of those fancy RSS things. Probably a Twitter account too. Anything but Facebook and MySpace (if it can be helped). Either way, this will serve as communication central for all things Hawkesnest.
Let the adventure...Begin!
